Your summer just stepped up a notch. Make your own S’mores Fondue Party for your family and friends. It’s easy and doesn’t require anything fancy!
Summer should be all about spending time outdoors, visiting family and friends and my favorite activity, vacation! I look back on my childhood and some of my fondest memories of family time involve our summer camping trips to New Hampshire.
We had a few favorite campgrounds along the Kancamagus highway. We would pack our suburban to the max, drive a couple hours to find a spot and set up camp. When people talk about camping, I often feel like their idea of camping is quite different from mine. We would pitch a tent in the middle of the woods, cook only by campfire or portable stove and walk by flashlight to the community bathrooms in the middle of the night. I remember these trips included blueberry picking (NOT my favorite thing), fishing, lots of swimming in the rivers and some shopping in nearby cities. Setting up camp was always fun, but tearing it down, not so much. One thing is for certain, we always ate well!
As an adult, my version of “roughin it” now includes a cabin by the lake with available wifi and a bed to sleep in. I know, it’s tough right? We eat better at the lake then we do at home! Since I started dating my boyfriend, he has welcomed me into their family tradition of trips to Bass Lake in the summer time. It has become one of my favorite trips of the year, in part because of the memories I know we are making together.
The families that we go to the lake with have been coming to the same spot for 10-15 years or more! In my 4 years with them, I have seen the next generation start to grow up, new spouses have joined, and bonds have grown. This year was really fun because I got everyone involved in a project I was working on for Kraft JET-PUFFED Marshmallows.
By now you must know my crazy love for s’mores or marshmallows in general. I am always making crazy twists on S’mores recipes like my: S’mores Lasagna, Banana Split S’mores Ice Cream Cake and my Bourbon Toasted S’mores Milkshake. Well this time, it is a bit different. I asked all my friends to join me in a DIY S’mores Fondue Party! Let’s be real, it didn’t take a lot of convincing. Oh, you want me to eat lots of S’mores, yea that’s not a problem!
This isn’t your average s’mores party, because the whole point of this was to make your s’mores and dip it in your favorite toppings. Bear in mind, I had a lot of mouths to feed, and also used this as an excuse to clean out my pantry, but you can easily tailor this to your group size. Let’s break this down a little further.
First you need the essentials: marshmallows, an assortment of graham crackers and plenty of chocolate. For my party, I brought four different kinds of marshmallows: Toasted Coconut Marshmallows, S’moreMallows, Chocolate Stripe S’moreMallows and StackerMallows which are perfect for s’mores.
For the graham crackers, I bought classic, cinnamon and chocolate. Lastly, it wouldn’t be a s’mores without Hershey’s Chocolate. I also threw in some varieties of chocolate like caramel filled chocolate and sea salt chocolate.
The second most important part are the dipping sauces! It wouldn’t be fondue without the sauce right? I served milk chocolate, which I melted on the grill in a large skillet, KRAFT CARAMELS, and white chocolate sauce. I also set out some peanut butter and other spreads.
The third most important component of your party are the “extras” toppings. After you have built your mouthwatering s’mores, then dipped it in chocolate, you need to go back for the final dunk. For this, I set out chopped up candy bars, chocolate cookies, salty cracker crumbs (for the sweet and salty lovers!) and toasted coconut.
Between all your different fondue sauces and toppings, you’ve some yourself some serious combinations going on! It was so much fun to see what everyone came up with. It’s not every day that you can go wild on the sweets like this. I think my favorite part was watching the little ones (almost 4 and just over a year) take down a few of these themselves.
You don’t need any fancy set up to host your own S’mores Fondue recipe. I grabbed paper plates, and some serving bowls, napkins and some roasting sticks. It is so easy that in fact, you can melt the chocolate directly on the grill or the fire in a cast iron skillet. I also melted it with a little bit of milk or heavy cream to make it smoother for dipping. The same goes for the caramel as well.
So gather up your friends and family and make some memories this summer! After all, National S’mores Day is happening August 10th!

- 1 (14 oz) package Honey Maid Graham Crackers
- 1 (14 oz) package Honey Maid Chocolate Graham Crackers
- 1 (8oz) bag JET-PUFFED Toasted Coconut Marshmallows
- 1 (16oz) bag JET-PUFFED Chocolate Striped S’moreMallows
- 1 (14oz) bag JET-PUFFED S'moreMallows
- 1 (8oz) bag JET-PUFFED StackerMallows
- 8 (1.5 oz) bars Hershey’s Chocolate Bars
- 3 (1.5 oz) bars Hershey’s Cookies ‘n Crème chocolate bars
- 6 Peanut Butter Cups
- 1 (18oz) jar peanut butter (optional)
- Fondue Dips
- 1 (12 oz) bag milk chocolate chips
- 6 oz white chocolate chips
- 6 oz KRAFT CARAMELS
- 6-8 tbsp milk, divided
- Fondue toppings:
- 12 chocolate wafer cookies, crushed
- 1 ½ cups Chopped candy bars
- 1 cup Shredded coconut, toasted or raw
- ¾ cup Crushed salted crackers
- Create a platter of assorted graham crackers and JET-PUFFED marshmallows.
- Unwrap chocolate bars and peanut butter cups and place on a plate. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve if you are in warm temperatures.
- In a microwave-safe bowl (or over the fire in a cast iron skillet), combine 12-ounces milk chocolate chips with 3 tablespoons of milk. Microwave for 60-90 seconds until chocolate begins to melt. Stir until completely smooth. If the chocolate is still too thick for dipping, continue adding milk 1 tablespoon at a time until it is thinner.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 6-ounces white chocolate chips with 2 tablespoons of milk. Microwave for 60-90 seconds until chocolate begins to melt. Stir until completely smooth. If the chocolate is still too thick for dipping, continue adding milk 1 tablespoon at a time until it is thinner. Serve in a large, shallow bowl for easy dipping.
- In a microwave-safe bowl combine 6-ounces unwrapped KRAFT CARAMELS with 1 tablespoons of milk. Microwave 30-60 seconds, stirring after 30 seconds. Watch carefully, caramel can burn easy. Use caution when handling caramels, as they can be extremely hot. Stir until completely smooth and allow to cool before serving. Serve in a bowl with a spoon.
- Place 12 chocolate wafer cookies in a sealed plastic bag. Crush cookies with a rolling pin or wooden spoon. Serve a bowl for easy dipping.
- Unwrap and cut your favorite candy bar into small pieces, about the size of a dime. Serve a bowl for easy dipping.
- Measure out 1 cup of coconut into a bowl. If you prefer toasted coconut, toast in a 425° oven on a cookie sheet for 5-10 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before serving.
- Place salted crackers in a sealed plastic bag. Crush cracker with a rolling pin or wooden spoon. Serve crushed crackers in a bowl for easy dipping.
- Assemble your set up so your guest can easily create their s’more, dip into your fondue sauces and dip again in the toppings.
- Note: If serving chocolate dipping sauce in a cast iron skillet, please use caution, as skillet will be very hot. I suggest to transfer for another dish if children are present.
