There are a many things I love when it comes to dessert; homemade whipped cream is one of them. I often get a lot of questions about substituting Cool Whip for whipped cream, so I like to offer options.
My obsessions with flavored whipped cream started with Hot Chocolate Whipped Cream, which is one of my most pinned recipes on Pinterest. It’s thick like a mousse with a smooth milk chocolate flavor. With only two ingredients, I knew there were more flavor combinations I could do.
I had been dreaming about Cake Batter Whipped Cream for weeks. I love cake batter, but most cake batter flavored desserts are too sweet or over flavored for melt. I will lick my spatula clean any day, but when it comes to replicating a cake batter flavor, it can be difficult get away from that artificial taste.
This whipped cream couldn’t be any easier! All it takes is some heavy whipping cream and some dry vanilla cake mix plus a little bit of sprinkles. The cake mix acts as a thicker for the whipped cream. When it comes to the sprinkles, I prefer to use the larger “jimmy” type sprinkles as opposed to the nonpareils. The coating on the nonpareils melts very quickly and turns the whipped cream colored.

- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/3 cup dry vanilla cake mix
- 2 tablespoons sprinkles
- Place the metal bowl and whisk attachment in freezer for about 15 minutes so they are good and cold.
- Pour the heavy whipping cream into mixing bowl and beat on high for 2 minutes.
- Add the yellow cake mix and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Lastly, add the sprinkles gently mix to combine. Keep refrigerated.
