From now until the end of the year, the days and weeks will fly by faster than we know it. Chaos will commence I’m sure, so its important to be prepared with a few recipes that can be thrown together in a snap. With just a handful of ingredients and 15 minutes in the oven, these Apple Cheesecake Croissant will leave your guests asking for more.

For these croissants, it’s all about the filling. The filling starts with a brown sugar and cinnamon cream cheese. It’s topped with some Lucky Leaf Pie filling and a brown sugar streusel. On a few of the croissants, I tried putting the streusel on top, but it just wasn’t the same. It is so much better to roll the streusel into the pastry.

I like to keep things simple during the holidays! So I used premade croissant dough. All I had to do was unroll the dough, spread on the cream cheese and add your fillings. Give it a quick roll up and pop them in the oven for 15 minutes. You’ve got a hot, fresh pastry that will make your guests think you’ve been slaving away all day!

The easiest part of this recipe is the Lucky Leaf Pie filling. The apple flavor is my favorite. The apple slices are larger, so I use a knife to cut the filling into smaller pieces before adding the pastry. Of coarse you always have the option of making a homemade apple pie filling, but that defeats the purpose of an easy recipe!

To make the brown sugar and cinnamon frosting , microwave the cream cheese for about 15 seconds. Add your brown sugar and cinnamon and use a handheld mixer and beat until soft. There is enough filling to spread across all the croissants. I found it was easy to spread on the cream cheese before cutting the croissants. Sprinkle some of the streusel before adding the pie filling and then roll it up! If you want to, you can also brush the top of the pastry with some melted butter. I also found that it was best to cook only one batch of croissants as a time.

All of these ingredients can be keep on hand to throw together when you have last minutes guests or better yet, you forgot you needed to bring something to the party!

Apple Cheesecake Croissant

  • Author: Julianne Dell
  • Prep Time: 15 mins
  • Cook Time: 15 mins
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 16

Ingredients

  • 2 Rolls Prepared croissant dough (8ct)
  • 1 pk Cream Cheese (8oz)
  • 3 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 can Lucky Leaf Apple Pie filling
  • For the streusel:
  • ¼ C Flour
  • 3 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp Graham cracker crumbs (optional)
  • ¼ C Walnuts (optional)
  • 3 tbsp Unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Unwrap one roll of croissant dough and lay flat.
  3. In a microwave safe dish, soften cream cheese for 15 seconds in the microwave. Add brown sugar and cinnamon and beat on a low speed until light and fluffy.
  4. Spread cream cheese mixture onto the croissant dough. Be sure to save enough for the second batch. Cut the croissant dough in half for each piece.
  5. Open the Lucky Leaf Pie filling and use a knife to cut the filling to smaller pieces.
  6. Prepare the streusel by combining flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, graham cracker crumbs and walnuts in a microwave safe dish. Put butter directly on top. Microwave for 30 seconds until butter is melted. Stir until there are no dry crumbs. If you need more butter, add one more tablespoon of melted butter.
  7. Sprinkle streusel on top of cream cheese. Spoon pie filling onto the top 2/3 of the croissant. Gently start to roll from the wider end to the smaller end, tucking in the pie filling as you go. Optional: brush the top with melted butter.
  8. Place croissants onto a lined backing sheet. Bake at 375°F for 12-15 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes before removing from the baking sheet. Serve warm. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
  9. Repeat with the second roll of croissants.
