Okay folks, this really is easier than you think! You don’t need super fancy equipment, just a double boiler, melting pot or a good old fashioned microwave, some quality chocolate and fresh strawberries. Here is a quick step by step tutorial for homemade chocolate dipped strawberries!
If you invest in quality chocolate, you will be very pleased with the result. The easiest chocolate for you to get your hands on is probably Wilton candy melts. I find that when melted, the candy melts are still fairly thick and require a lot of crisco to be mixed in so that the chocolate is runny and smooth. I am absolutely in love with this chocolate bar I got, and it 2.5 lbs, so I will be able to use it for awhile!
Here is your step by step guide:
If you want to add your own toppings, do so when the chocolate is still wet. You can add anything from sprinkles to nuts to sanding sugar. Be creative!
I wanted to add some white chocolate stripes. If you don’t have a piping bag, you can use a squirt bottle or even a spoon to drizzle the white chocolate over the top. I did use candy melts for this part. Here are some quick tips for filling a piping bag.
I suggest to melt your chocolate melts in the microwave in 20-30 second increments until melted and smooth. Use Crisco to help thin out chocolate, adding 1 tsbp at a time and mix very well. If you need to re-heat the chocolate, you can do so in the disposable bag, but you must remove the metal tip first! Drizzle white chocolate over your chocolate strawberries.
You will really impress your friends and loved ones with these! They also make a great cupcake topper! Enjoy!
Those are so beautiful. I love classic chocolate dipped strawberries!
