Warning, this post might make you a little hungry!! I just returned from my third trip to Colorado since Thanksgiving. I have gone for various family vacations and work. I have discovered the most amazing Whole Foods located in Lakewood off 6th Ave/Wadsworth. Every time I have gone to Colorado, I have stopped here on my way to and from the mountain; I can’t stay away. I can only hope that the Whole Foods opening in my neighborhood this spring will be as good.
I will let most of the photos speak for themselves. Dessert first of course. There are several self-serve cookie stations inside. You can fill up your own box and they even have some baker’s twine to wrap up your to-go box.
They have an awesome gelato station. I got the pumpkin flavor. It was amazing! It was smooth, creamy and plenty of pumpkin flavor with a hint of cinnamon.
Their dessert selection is out of this world. They must have had at least two dozen types of cupcakes. I really enjoyed their mini dessert selection. They had everything: small cannoli’s, fruit tarts, cheesecakes, mousse cakes, macaroons, truffles and various other brownies and cakes. Of course, I got a cupcake!
I usually hit the salad bar at Whole Foods, maybe a small slice of pizza, or sushi. This time, I couldn’t resist the BBQ station, this was the first time I had seen this in a Whole Foods. You can choose from a number of different sandwiches including BBQ brisket, pulled pork, chicken and several other options. My boyfriend had an amazing chicken, avocado and bacon sandwich. I choose a slider version of his sandwich as well as a BBQ brisket slider. The meat was so juicy, it pulled right apart.
I was just so amazed by all of the different stations they had to choose from. You could sit down and have a fresh stir-fry prepared as well as various Italian dishes. There is a number of hot food stations, oilve bar, anti-pasta bar, a huge salad bar and a soup station.
This summer when I travel to the BlogHer Food conference, I plan to visit the Whole Foods flagship location in Austin, Texas. I will probably not eat for two days in advance so I have plenty of room for food!
Whole Foods is like my favorite place on earth. The treats remind me of ours in Chicago, super nice!
