Cranberry Apple Pie

A cranberry apple pie crisp flavored with maple syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg. Topped with a crunchy brown sugar frosting


  • 1 pie crust, prepared for baking

For the filling

  • 56 Medium apples, sliced
  • 1 C Dried cranberries
  • 1/2 C Walnuts, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 C Flour
  • 1/2 C Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg

For the streusel

  • 1 C Oatmeal
  • 1/2 C Flour
  • 1/2 C Brown sugar
  • 1/4 C Walnuts, chopped
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 C Unsalted butter


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Prepare your favorite pie crust. If the recipes make two crusts, freeze one for next time. Place pie crust in pie plate.
  3. Peel apples and slice thin into stripes. Combines sliced apples and cranberries in a medium size bowl. Squeeze lemon juice over apples and toss to coat apples.
  4. Add flour, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon and nutmeg. Gently toss apples to coat.
  5. Pour apple filling into pie crust.
  6. To prepare the streusel, combine flour, brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Use cold butter and cut into smaller chunks. Use a pastry cutter or two forks to press the butter into the dry ingredients to create a crumbly mixture.
  7. Pour streusel over top of apple pie. Bake for 35-40 minutes at 350°F. If the crust is browning too fast, put a piece of tin foil over the top of the pie. Remove from oven and allow to cool before cutting.
