Hi, I’m Julianne! I’m a published author and the creator behind Beyond Frosting. If you love dessert but don’t want anything complicated or intimidating, you’re in the right place. Here you’ll find simple, approachable dessert recipes for everyone, whether you’re just getting started or you’ve spent years baking.

Baking has always been part of my life, from helping my mom in the kitchen to making Christmas cookies with my grandma. You’ll find a lot of those classic recipes here, including favorites like Grandma’s cinnamon rolls and sugar cookies. In high school, I even shared my classic seven-layer bars recipe on our school’s news station.

I stepped away from baking during college and the early part of my career, but eventually found my way back after taking a Wilton decorating course. I had so much fun learning new decorating and baking techniques that I started sharing what I was making with others. That’s when Beyond Frosting began in 2012. It’s hard to believe I’ve been developing and sharing recipes for more than a decade, but I guess that’s what happens when you’re enjoying yourself.

More About Me

I was raised on the East Coast (shoutout to my fellow Vermonters) and moved to the West Coast in 2009. At the time, I was working in the apparel and action sports industry. As a lifelong snowboarder, it felt like the perfect fit.

That job is also where I met my husband, who works in the same industry. After a mountaintop proposal, he been an honorary team member of Beyond Frosting since the beginning. He’s been by my side through countless hours of work, thousands of recipes tested, editing the cookbook, and all the behind-the-scenes stuff that comes with it.

We love traveling, eating our way through our favorite cities, snowboarding together, and, of course, a really good chocolate cake.

We now have two young boys, and baking with my toddler has inspired me to get kids in the kitchen more often. Sometimes it’s fun. Sometimes it’s chaotic. Either way, my boys (husband included) are my best taste testers.

I’m a published author, and my cookbook No-Bake Treats (2016) made the Amazon bestseller list. During the launch, I appeared on QVC on In the Kitchen with David, where the book sold out in just six minutes. My work has also been featured in national magazines, online publications, and on both local and national television.

Fun Facts

  • My love language is baking
  • I grew up on the mountain, and my whole family still skis or snowboards
  • I’ll choose a winter vacation over a summer one every time
  • I left my corporate job in 2019 while pregnant with our first child to pursue Beyond Frosting full-time
  • My grandmother’s nickname for me was “Sugar.”
