Hi, and welcome to Beyond Frosting® my name is Julianne. I am an east coast girl at heart, but now call the Pacific Northwest home. I lived in Vermont for 20 years before a few years in Southern California and now settling down in Oregon. I am always off chasing the snow somewhere.
I fell in love with baking at an early age, always wanting to help my mom in the kitchen. My mother says I got my sweet tooth from my southern grandmother. It just so happened that my grandmother’s nickname for me was “Sugar”. My favorite desserts are cheesecakes, cupcakes and a good soft sugar cookie. Oh, and mint chip ice cream!
In 2018, I married my best friend and a dreamy mountain top proposal. He’s been around since the very first days of Beyond Frosting and has been by my side through countless hours of work, photoshoots, cookbook writing and adventures all in the name of Beyond Frosting. We love traveling to new places, eating our way through our favorite cities, snowboarding together and a good chocolate cake. In 2020 we welcomed our baby boy. What a wild year to become a new mom.
I am inspired by photography and food; creativity is in my blood. I started this blog after completing cake decorating classes in the summer of 2012. I wanted one central place to keep track of my ideas and creations. I quickly learned that I really enjoyed the baking and frosting much more than the fondant- so you won’t find any fondant around here. As such, I have fallen in love with frosting. I bake because I love to make people happy and to see the joy on their faces as they devour my treats.
